Sitting on one of Florida's seven outstanding waterways, the Withlacoochee River, Yankeetown is just north of Crystal River and Homosassa on the north gulf coast. With easy access to the river and just 2 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Yankeetown is a boaters' haven. Sailors are especially in luck as there are no obstacles to block their towering masts.

Whether you want to charter a boat with Ky Lewis, kayak along the river, canoe in search of alligators, or swim with the Manatees, you'll soon discover that Yankeetown is the jewel of the "Nature Coast." Old Florida exists in Yankeetown, where it's easy to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Artists love to paint, sketch and photograph the natural habitat that is bemoning increasingly hard to find in Florida.

You'll see many of your neighbors out for an early morning walk and then again for an evening stroll. Others will be bicycling or putzing along in their golf carts. Everyone waves, you'll instantly feel welcome.

Yankeetown sits just 73 miles north of the Tampa International Airport. With semi-tropical weather, Yankeetown enjoys an abundance of sunshine all year long. You can expect rain showers and spectacular thunderstorms on hot summer afternoons, which you'll welcome as it cools the air. They showers don't last long, and don't be surprised to find the sun peeking out even before the storm has passed.

Many residents and visitors to Yankeetown find the best weather to be during the winter months. Since most of the rain falls in the summer months, the rest of the year favors a more dry climate. You'll experience all four seasons when living in Yankeetown, with warm days and cool nights in the spring and fall. Don't leave your sweater behind, as there's nothing better than sitting under the 'nature coast' sky watching the shooting stars.
